After much consideration, the NHMRC have released their changes to the upcoming 2021 grant program in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and the continuing effect this is having upon the research community.

New Opportunities: Heart Foundation Strategic and COVID grants

New Opportunities:  4x Heart Foundation Strategic Grants
These grants aim to generate innovative and collaborative research projects in the areas where identified gaps in cardiovascular health exist, with a focus on four specific areas. Applications may relate to any research discipline (i.e. biomedical, clinical, public health, health services) or be multidisciplinary. All four grants will run in two stages, with stage one success required to progress to stage two.

PURE: Creating & validating external Projects - Change in process

At May's Research Managers' Forum, a decision was made to restrict the ability to create a Project record in Pure to administrative staff (MRO and Research Mangers with the relevant roles in Pure). Therefore from today (Monday 27 July 2020), Researchers will no longer be able to create Project records.

The Bethlehem Griffiths Research Foundation (BGRF) is seeking applications from individuals or groups for financial assistance for specific research projects into progressive neurological diseases, stroke or palliative care in 2021. The Foundation is pleased to announce that it also has additional funds for specific MS projects again this year. All projects are funded for one year and investigators requiring further funding will need to apply separately each year. The Foundation is committed to maximising medical research and will not fund administrative overheads.

New Opportunity: Snow Fellowships - due 19 Aug 2020 to MRO

The Snow Medical Resarch Foundation (Snow Medical) are offering fellowships to support emerging leaders in biomedical research, at the early-mid career stage. Up to two fellowships will be awarded, supporting $1M per year, for up to 8 years. Applicants must have 5 to 10 years of post-doctoral experience (not including career disruptions). MD/PhD applicants may have up to 12 years experience. Note that Snow Medical seeks bold proposals only achievable through long-term funding. An element of measured risk relative to traditional funding programs is acceptable.
