Vital investment milestone reached for Australian health and medical research!
As the national peak alliance for health hand medical research, Research Australia is delighted that a capital injection of $3.2 billion will be made into the Medical Research Future Fund next week.

Now that states are opening up, Gabriel Scott wanted to reach out and see if there is any collaborative interest in analyzing human movement data. UberMedia is one of the largest aggregators of mobile location data from mobile devices in the US, and globally. UberMedia is looking to provide assistance for COVID-19 research, particularly around social distancing.

The Bethlehem Griffiths Research Foundation (BGRF) is seeking applications from individuals or groups for financial assistance for specific research projects into progressive neurological diseases, stroke or palliative care in 2021. The Foundation is pleased to announce that it also has additional funds for specific MS projects again this year. All projects are funded for one year and investigators requiring further funding will need to apply separately each year. The Foundation is committed to maximising medical research and will not fund administrative overheads.

New Opportunity: Snow Fellowships - due 19 Aug 2020 to MRO
The Snow Medical Resarch Foundation (Snow Medical) are offering fellowships to support emerging leaders in biomedical research, at the early-mid career stage. Up to two fellowships will be awarded, supporting $1M per year, for up to 8 years. Applicants must have 5 to 10 years of post-doctoral experience (not including career disruptions). MD/PhD applicants may have up to 12 years experience. Note that Snow Medical seeks bold proposals only achievable through long-term funding. An element of measured risk relative to traditional funding programs is acceptable. More details, including funding rules, FAQs, and profiles of previous winners, can be found on Snow Medical's website.
Masks update on behalf of the MNHS COVID-19 Task Force
As you will already know, people living in metropolitan Melbourne, and the Mitchell Shire, will be required to start wearing face masks when out of the home from tonight (22 July 2020) at 11.59pm.
The University has updated its advice for the use of face masks for staff working on-campus.
