Department of Health grant helps Monash researchers to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on the delivery of immunisation services in Australia

A/Prof Michelle Giles
Congratulations to Associate Professor Michelle Giles on receiving a $20,000 grant from the Department of Health to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on the delivery of immunisation services in Australia.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on Australia's healthcare system. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has emphasised the importance of maintaining delivery of core health services, including immunisation, during the pandemic.

A/Prof Giles's research will explore how the pandemic has impacted on the delivery of immunisation services in Australia to children, schools, pregnant women and adults. This study will help understand new strategies that may have been implemented, the challenges faced and the strategies introduced to overcome those challenges.

A/Prof Giles said, "Our team is very excited to be working with the Department of Health to understand how COVID-19 has impacted the delivery of immunisation services across Australia".
