University and Faculty position on use of masks

As you're aware, the Victorian Government advises that adults living in areas under Stage 3 restrictions wear a face mask when outside home if it is difficult to keep 1.5 metres apart from other people.

For University's up-to-date advice, please see the Monash COVID-19 information page for the use of face masks.

For activity on our Faculty's sites, where 1.5 metres distancing cannot be maintained, such as essential clinical skills training and research activities, a risk assessment supported by OHS must be completed and a RA template is available in SARAH (RA number 22536). The use of surgical masks in these instances may be recommended and where required, will be supplied by the University.

For Faculty activities on-site at our health service partners, please continue to follow the advice of the health services.

Please contact SCS Senior Operations Officer Dr Clare Westhorpe on clare.westhorpe@monash.edu if you require support for local risk assessments and local supplies.

Further information is available on the DHHS face mask information webpage.  For more information and please watch the video: ‘Recommendations for using a cloth face mask with Brett Sutton, Victorian Chief Medical Officer’.
