Ben Amberg wins 1st prize and People's Choice Award at Faculty 3MT Competition

Congratulations to Ben Amberg on winning 1st Prize at the 2020 Faculty Three Minute Thesis Competition and also the People’s Choice Award!


Ben will represent the Faculty as a finalist at the Monash University 3MT Final on 18 August 2020, winner of which will progress to the Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition.

Ben, an MD-PhD candidate in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, said that the 3MT competition is a fun opportunity to practice pulling out a single message from your thesis and communicating that effectively.

“We should be able to communicate the research we do with the lay audience that will hopefully, one day benefit from it".

“It really was a bit of a surprise. I get pretty competitive so I watched all of the other presentations and they were all really good, so I didn’t expect much."

“I just wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone who voted in the people choice and has sent messages of support. It has been wonderful. Also a big thanks to the Faculty for continuing the competition despite the current climate", said Ben.

Speaking of the upcoming Monash University 3MT Final on 18 August, Ben said, "I didn’t think I would get this far so I have absolutely no expectations for the final. Can’t wait though."
