Australia-China Science and Research Fund (ACSRF) Joint Research Centres (JRCs) Round 4

The JRCs are virtual centres that link Australian and Chinese research institutions conducting a range of research-related activities in a specified field of research in order to build research capacity, maximize the application and commercialisation of research outcomes, and boost collaborations between researchers and industry. JRCs enable a concentration of effort and achievement of outcomes beyond those of individual research projects.The maximum grant amount is $1,000,000 and maximum project period is 36 months.

PRIORITY AREAS OF RESEARCH FOR JRCs ROUND 4

  • Food and Agribusiness: agritech, supply chains & future food and their regulation.
  • Digital Technology: medical technologies including services and aged care, financial technology & big data
  • Energy and Resources: new energy (renewables), hydrogen, energy storage and supply & mineral exploration.
  • Advanced Materials: biomedical metal materials such as titanium and magnesium alloys, graphene technology & high-performance structure and composites

UNIVERSITY LIMITS
Monash University is only able to submit two applications and only one application per priority area. As such, the MRO will need to run an internal expression of interest process (as detailed below).

EOI AND APPLICATION PROCESS
A JRC must include at least one Australian eligible entity, one Chinese primary partner, and one Australian industry partner or end user. Interested researchers must complete the EOI form, with department/school approval, and send it to mro-applications@monash.edu. The documents can be found here.

KEY DATES

EOI due to MRO: 5 pm AEST 29 July 2020
Full application due to funder: 5 pm AEST 2 September 2020
