Australia-India Collaborative
Research Projects are funded by the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund
(AISRF).
The objectives of the AISRF are to increase the uptake of leading
science and technology by supporting collaboration between Australian and Indian
researchers in strategically focused, leading-edge scientific research and
technology projects to strengthen strategic alliances between Australian
and Indian researchers, and facilitate Australia’s and India’s access to
the global science and technology system.
The priority areas for Round 11 of the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund
Collaborative Research Projects are:
Indo-Australian Science & Technology Fund (administered
by DST in India)
- Energy storage (batteries)
- Marine science
Indo-Australian Biotechnology Fund (administered by DBT in
India)
- Plant genomics
- Neurodegenerative diseases, including palliative care
Funding Available
For this grant opportunity, $4 million is available over 3
years. The maximum grant amount is $500,000. The
maximum grant period is three years
Application Limits & Monash EOI Process
Monash University is only able to submit two applications
here:
- one with a corresponding application being submitted under the
Science and Technology Fund with India’s Department of Science and
Technology
- one corresponding application being submitted under the
Biotechnology Fund with India’s Department of Biotechnology
As such, the MRO must run an
internal expression of interest process to identify which applications the
Monash will support, in case there are multiple researchers interested in
applying (see details below).
Key Eligibility Requirements
The project must involve
research in a priority area .
Applications must have a
primary Indian partner that has submitted, or is in the process of submitting,
a corresponding application to India’s Department of Science and Technology
(DST) or the Department of Biotechnology (DBT).
Monash University can only
submitted a max. of two applications as Lead Organisation (per above).

Interested researchers must
complete the attached EOI form , and send it to mro-applications@monash.edu
by 3 Jan 2019. The interested researchers will be advised on the EOI
outcome shortly thereafter.
Note that the questions within
the EOI form are drawn from the actual application form. For further guidance on how to answer these questions, e.g. level of
detail expected, please refer to the grant guidelines and the
actual application form (accessible here).
For those selected to
Proceed following the Monash EOI process
You will need to complete the
online application form and attach all required supporting attachments. The
application for can be accessed here.
These applicants will need to
also create a Pure record and forward it to Pre-Approval by 16 Jan, as internal
approvals must be secured before submission (attach a draft PDF application
form generated from the application portal to the Pure record).
Only those which selected for
University support through the EOI process will need a corresponding Pure
record.
