Monash Medical Orchestra mid-year update

It has been a very full and rewarding first semester for the orchestra, including the inaugural Solo Soirée showcasing MMO's many fine soloists, and the highly successful Autumn Concert, Revolutions. MMO's performance at the Australasian Student Selection for the Health Professions Conference in April was well-received by a room full of esteemed guests, and just last week, we played for over 1000 excited medical students at one of the world's largest student-run conferences, the Australian Medical Student Association Convention.

Looking forward
In August, small groups formed by orchestra members and special guests will bring you an evening of chamber music at the Chamber Concert. This semester, we are also privileged to be invited to tour in beautiful Gippsland, home to Monash's post-graduate medical students. Bringing our music into the rural community has long been a dream of the MMO, and we are especially honoured to be playing for the people of Latrobe Valley, who have endured much hardship in recent years due to the fires at Hazelwood Mine. MMO's 2015 season will conclude with our full-orchestra Spring Concert in September - a particularly special occasion that coincides with the orchestra's 5th anniversary.

The following is a summary of our upcoming concerts for your diarising convenience:
  • Chamber Concert - Saturday 8th August 6:00pm, Trinity College Chapel, University of Melbourne, Royal Parade, Parkville
  • Churchill Concert Tour - Saturday 22nd August 4:30pm, Federation University Churchill Campus Auditorium, Gippsland
  • Spring Concert (5th Anniversary) - Sunday 27th September, James Tatoulis Auditorium, Methodist Ladies' College, Kew

For more information on our upcoming concerts, please see our website.

Our concerts will continue to support the Hush Music Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that commissions and produces music by Australian composers to reduce stress and anxiety for children, families and others in hospital.

Thank you again and we hope to see you soon!
