2023 parking arrangements

A message from Buildings and Property Division Monash University

Changes to parking operations across our campuses for 2023 will come into effect from Monday 20 February as we welcome our students back to campus for O-Week.

With parking demand set to increase this year, we encourage you to use other modes of transport or carpool and share your trip and parking fees whenever possible.

2023 parking prices

Prices have increased in line with CPI as follows:

  • Blue: $0.56/hour, capped at $2.79 daily
  • Red (Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula): $1.03/hour, capped at $5.17 daily
  • Red (Parkville): $1.36/hour, capped at $6.80 daily

Peak pricing during high demand periods

With O-Week approaching and in-person teaching, learning and study activities returning to pre-pandemic levels with the hopeful return and commencement of most international students, attendance on campus is anticipated to increase. We expect campus visits to reach their peak during the first four weeks of each semester and during graduations at Clayton campus. Our data shows excessive demand for parking in blue permit zones during these periods.

To better manage parking during high demand periods, peak pricing will be implemented in blue permit areas in 2023. The parking prices in blue permit areas will be increased to $0.72/hour, capped at $3.62 daily in the first four weeks of each semester across Clayton, Caulfield and Peninsula campuses and during some graduations at Clayton campus that occur during teaching periods.

Please note peak pricing during high demand periods will also apply to 28-day permits. The blue 28-day permit will cost $72.40 if any of the 28 days covered by your permit occur during high demand periods.

  • Blue 28 day permit: $72.40

Parking allocations

Due to increased demand for parking in 2023, spaces in the SE1 car park at Clayton have been converted from metered to red permit parking for staff and student use. At Peninsula, spaces in the N1 car park have been converted from metered to blue permit parking for staff and student use.

Car parks on Blackburn Rd and Duerdin St will now be allocated the Off-campus Blue code (3800522). Staff parking at 211 Wellington Rd will continue to use this code. The Off-campus blue parking code does not have peak pricing applied in 2023 and can only be used at these sites.

Please use the relevant campus blue codes on days where you plan to travel between our off campus and campus locations.

Reminder to start your parking session

Please remember to start your parking session using the CellOPark app every time you park on campus if you choose to use PAYU parking. We recommend you use the creating smart parking reminders guide, which explains how to set a calendar reminder or download reminder apps to assist you in remembering to start your parking session.

Sustainable transport

We encourage you to consider the following alternative transport options when travelling to Monash.

  • myki Commuter Club The myki Commuter Club provides a 10 per cent discount on an            annual myki pass, which can be used to pay for public transport trips across metropolitan Melbourne.
  • Intercampus shuttles The intercampus shuttle bus operates between the Clayton and                  Peninsula campuses, Caulfield and Clayton campuses and between Peninsula and Frankston Station. View the update timetables and further information.
