Semester 1 Library Services

As the 2021 academic year shifts into gear, the team working across our University Library are ready and available to support students, researchers, academic and teaching staff. 

Library spaces

Library opening hours - all University Libraries are open extended hours during semester one. Library spaces across all domestic campuses are operating in line with the University COVID safe plan, and all Library visitors will need to swipe their Monash ID card, or scan a QR code to register entry. 

The Special Collections Reading Room in the Matheson is now open for researchers by appointment Monday to Friday. For bookings and information, contact the team at specialcollections@monash.edu

Teaching & Learning Support

There have been some changes to how the Library team builds reading lists to support teaching staff, with a new online technology solution.

New platform - we are using a new online solution called Leganto, which is used widely to help academics build and maintain reading lists for students. See the new tool HERE and learn more about Leganto HERE.

Reading lists - using Leganto, teaching staff will be able to easily create, manage, and enrich reading lists, as well as use the inbuilt analytics tool to gain insights into student use of and engagement with reading list content.  We will share more information with teaching staff about Leganto in the next few weeks so they can deliver and adjust readings directly, and in their own time frame.

Readings team - the readings team provides expert support in areas such as ensuring access (online preferred) to materials on reading lists, and checking for copyright compliance of readings. 

Lists received by 22 February have been prioritised, the first four weeks of readings for each unit have already been published on Leganto.  

Teaching staff who have been assigned a course and submitted reading lists after 22 February will be supported by the readings team. This approach offers dedicated expertise to support teaching staff with the new platform. The readings team can be contacted at Lib-readings@monash.edu

Research Outputs Collection Service (ROCS)

The ROCS team is now located in the Library ensuring all high priority, research output information is captured to meet reporting purposes such as: 

·  Excellence in Research for Australian submissions, 

·  Researcher profiles, and

·  Academic Performance Standard reviews. 

The team has reduced in size, so please bear with us as we recalibrate workload.
