Invitation: Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder Workshops

Monash University is proud to host Dr Michelle Garnett to deliver two workshops on Asperger's Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorders for academic and professional staff.
Autism effects 1 in every 100 people. All staff who are involved directly with students are especially encouraged to attend.
Professional Staff Morning Session

Date: Wednesday September 2, 2015

Time: 9.30am to 12.30pmVenue: Room G29 & G30 New Horizons Building, 20 Research Way, Clayton CampusIncludes morning tea

This workshop is designed for Professional staff primarily who have contact with students. The workshop will include an overview of Asperger's Syndrome and Autism Spectrum disorders and include topics such as:

  • effects on daily life
  • communication
  • accommodation, living independently
  • challenging behaviour
  • social skills
  • changes in expectations
  • transitioning to university

Academic Staff Afternoon Session
Date: Wednesday September 2, 2015
Time: 1.30pm to 4.30pm
Venue: Room G29 & G30
New Horizons Building, 20 Research Way
Clayton Campus
Includes afternoon tea
