individuals, we now have 15 Study Area Groups, listed below.
All Monash Uni PhD students enrolled in SCS who are yet to complete their
Mid-Candidature Milestone review have been allocated to a SAG. Newly
enrolled students will also be placed in these groups. Students
post-Mid-Candidature will be managed by their Departmental HDR Coordinator, as
previously. Students enrolled externally will be managed locally and we
will assist as appropriate.

The SAC will serve as the panel chair for all or most of the students in their group and run a Journal Club or other small group learning event. Specific information has been sent individually to all students who were identified as being eligible for participation in a SAG. If you think you should be in a SAG but haven't heard from us, please let us (Rachael Unwin, phd.scs@monash.edu, and Kate Loveland, kate.loveland@monash.edu) know (after checking your Monash student email account).

Several information
sessions are scheduled to run across SCS Centres and Departments in to inform
students and supervisors about this new approach to PhD student management, as
well as to highlight changes implemented by MIGR and the Faculty that are relevant
to new and existing PhD students.
Remember that it is the
students' responsibility to manage their progression through the PhD
candidature, through their professional relationship with their supervisor and
with help from Rachael Unwin, myself and other members of the HDR Postgraduate
Committee.
