Health have scheduled a site wide Black Start exercise for Tuesday 2nd December
2014 between the hours of 7:00-8:00am.
The purpose of a Black Start is to test and demonstrate that the emergency power supply performs as an integrated system and continues to deliver power to critical services. Black Starts also demonstrate the orderly restoration of supplies once normal source power has been restored.

Car Park Boom
gates will be open during the Black Start, Smoke doors will shut at the
commencement of the Black start and some swipe activated doors will
not be operational via swipe and in these cases manual operation of the doors
is advised. Lifts may or may not operate depending on whether they have been
programmed to operate on a priority in critical care areas.
Generator
Supply:
The
generators will support all colored power points (red/blue) as such, all
equipment that are not plugged into Blue/Red power points will lose power
during the duration of the Black Start.
Areas not affected
by the Black Start are:
McCulloch House, CRC, MIMR, MHRP and Special
MedicineStaff are advised not to set up any experiments overnight that are plugged into a non essential (beige) power point. Fridges and Freezers plugged into these power points will be OK as long as the doors are not opened during the Black Start.
A planned code Yellow will be called at the commencement and cessation of the Black Start.
