European Research Days 2020 Australia & New Zealand (Virtual)

European Research Days 2020 is the annual flagship event of EURAXESS Australia and New Zealand, in collaboration with the Delegation of the European Union to Australia and the Delegation of the European Union to New Zealand. This virtual event focuses on providing the research community with information and support for scientific exchange and collaboration with Europe. 

Topics include, but are not limited to: European funding (Horizon Europe, DAAD, European Research Council grants, Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions, Erasmus+); the impact of Covid-19 on research and mobility; EU-Australia relations (speakers/panelists include European ambassadors to Australia and New Zealand); and the importance of international collaboration (speakers include Prof. Anne Kelso (CEO, NHMRC), Dr Mary Kelly (Executive Director, Biological Sciences and Biotechnology, ARC), Prof. John Shine (President, AAS) and Prof. Jean-Pierre Bourguignon (Interim President, European Research Council).

Clinical Registry Stata Workshop

The Registry Sciences Unit (RSU) based within the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University is running a two-day workshop titled "Clinical Registry Data Analysis Using Stata" in Sydney.

Registration is now open for the MMI-MHTP FIJI Intermediate Workshop, 16 October

This half day FIJI Intermediate workshop will provide a great follow up to our Basics workshop, moving into more advanced image correction and image analysis techniques. Sessions are open to all staff and students, and you do not have to be a registered MMI user to attend.

‘Wnt regulation of the stem cell niche’, 26 June

This week there will be a Special Seminar held by Centre for Cancer Research on Tuesday 26 June at 9:30-10:30 am in Seminar Rooms 1 & 2, Level 2, TRF.

The speaker will be David M. Virshup, MD

Professor and Director, Program in Cancer and Stem Cell Biology, Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore; Professor of Pediatrics, Duke University, Durham, NC, USA

Dr David M. Virshup, MD, is the inaugural Director of the Program in Cancer and Stem Cell Biology at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School in Singapore, and a tenured Professor of Pediatrics at Duke University in North Carolina, USA. His research focuses on signal transduction via protein phosphorylation, with a special interest in Wnt signalling and circadian rhythms.

Dr Virshup received his B.A. magna cum laude in Chemistry from Beloit College in 1977 and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1981. He completed his clinical training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and research training all at Johns Hopkins.

From 1990 until 2007, Dr Virshup was at the University of Utah. In 2007, he joined the newly-established Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School in Singapore.

Dr Virshup is a member of the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, the American Society of Clinical Investigation, the Association of American Physicians, and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, He has been on the Editorial Board for Journal of Biological Chemistry and the Journal of Clinical Investigation.
