NHMRC: 2020 Application Dates for major schemes

Following feedback from the sector, the NHMRC has set the open, minimum data and close dates for Investigator Grants, Synergy Grants, Clinical Trial & Cohort Study (CTCS) Grants, and Ideas Grants. The good news? There will be no grants to write over the Christmas period!

The 2020 New Grant Program application dates for major schemes are:

Investigator Grants
Open: 2 October 2019
Minimum data due: 30 October 2019
Close: 27 November 2019

Synergy Grants
Open: 26 February 2020
Minimum data due: 25 March 2020
Close: 22 April 2020

CTCS Grants
Open: 4 March 2020
Minimum data due: 1 April 2020
Close: 29 April 2020

Ideas Grants
Open: 11 March 2020
Minimum data due: 8 April 2020
Close: 6 May 2020

Please note that the Easter public holidays overlap with the period that Synergy Grants, CTCS, Ideas Grants are open, and the Anzac Day public holiday overlaps with the period that CTCS and Ideas Grants are open. Please consider this in your application planning.

The MRO will communicate MRO compliance close dates for each of these schemes very shortly.

Please note that the NHMRC are yet to provide further information such as scheme guidance documents for any of the above schemes. The NHMRC are also yet to provide dates for their other schemes such as Development Grants and Centres of Research Excellence (CRE). As soon as we have more information we will be sure to communicate this out.
