BRIEF DETAILS

The objective of the Ideas Grant scheme is to support innovative research projects addressing a specific question(s). The expected outcomes are:

·  innovative and creative research,

·  funding of researchers at all career stages, and 

·  funding any area of health and medical research from discovery to implementation.

 *Only applications that meet the 7 April 2021 MRO eligibility check deadline can be guaranteed a full eligibility check of the application.

NHMRC Capping Rules - Investigator Grants & Ideas Grants

If you submitted an NHMRC Investigator Grant application to the 2020 round (submitted November 2019), you are only able to apply for one Ideas Grant this year. This is because there are capping rules which apply to the number of applications you are able to submit in a single round.

The MRO Research Development Team will be providing written guidance and and reviews to support the upcoming NHMRC Ideas Grant round (due 10th June 2020). The first of these guidance documents (quick guides) have been up-loaded to the MRO Ideas Grants intranet page.

New dates: Ideas grants

In light of the NHMRC's recently revised deadline for Ideas Grants, please find new key dates for the scheme outlined in the email from the MRO below.  The MRO has advised that they are awaiting guidance from Cancer Australia on their revised submission date in light of NHMRC's extended deadline.  This will be updated as soon as known.  For questions, please contact mhs@monash.edu.

As many of you would be aware, the NHMRC have provided an updated calendar with many (but not all) funding opportunity due dates for the remainder of 2019 and the larger schemes in 2020. This includes:

Following feedback from the sector, the NHMRC has set the open, minimum data and close dates for Investigator Grants, Synergy Grants, Clinical Trial & Cohort Study (CTCS) Grants, and Ideas Grants. The good news? There will be no grants to write over the Christmas period!
