This week's Hudson seminar will be held Thursday
10 August 12pm-1pm at Seminar Rooms 1 & 2, Level 2, TRF Building.
The
speaker will be Professor Sharad Kumar, NHMRC Senior Principal Research
Fellow and Co-Director of the Centre for Cancer Biology at the University of
South Australia.
He will be presenting "Roles of protein ubiquitination in physiology and disease"
He will be presenting "Roles of protein ubiquitination in physiology and disease"
Ubiquitination is a common protein modification process that is
essential for the normal functioning of the cell. This seminar will discuss how
ubiquitination regulates membrane proteins, such as the signaling receptors,
ions channels and transporters, and the pathophysiological consequences of such
a regulatory system. Data will be presented on the role of ubiquitination in
iron and salt homeostasis, and in disease. The seminar should be of interest to
a wide audience in biomedicine, biochemistry, cell biology and physiology.
A light lunch and refreshments will follow this presentation.
Please email (shaunagh.mchugh@hudson.org.au) if you would like to meet with Sharad before or after the seminar.
