You are invited to attend a 2-day Monash Symposium on Cardiovascular Health. This will be a university-wide event which aims to:
- showcase existing cardiovascular health research within Monash University across Schools and Faculties;
- inform the audience on new developments regarding the Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH)
- establish a Monash-wide virtual network of cardiovascular health researchers and clinicians.
Date: Wednesday 6 November & Thursday 7 November 2019
Location: Learning and Teaching Building (LTB), Monash Clayton Campus
We are excited to announce as plenary speakers:
- Prof. Alex Brown (SAHMRI, Adelaide, SA), presenting on 6 November
- Dr James Hudson (QIMR Berghofer, QLD), presenting on 7 November
The symposium will consist of 1 day of talks and poster presentations and 1 day of workshops, focussing on 5 particular challenges of Cardiovascular Health:
Living Well
- including prevention, metabolic disease and rehabilitation
Women's Heart
- tackling the higher risk of death from CVD experienced by women through research, clinical care and education
Personalised Medicine
- develop, evaluate and implement uniquely targeted precision approaches tailored to an individual patient’s need
Vulnerable Populations
- including Aboriginal Health, mental health patients, migrants and patients of low socioeconomic background
New Technologies
- novel and innovative approaches for prevention, diagnosis and treatment (devices, drug discovery, diagnostics, digital health)
