ARC- DECRA Fellowships (DE21) Now Open

The ARC Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DE21) is now open. The DECRA grant opportunity provides focused research support for early career researchers in both teaching and research, and research-only positions.

Brief Details
DECRAs are for eligible researchers within 5 years post-PhD (i.e. researchers with a PhD award date which falls on, or after 1 March 2015). If you require a Career Interruption, see here.

Key changes to DECRA application

Please note the following key changes to the DECRA application in RMS, relative to last year:

  • Project limits: Chief Investigators (CIs) on ARC Centres of Excellence and Special Research Initiatives will no longer count towards Discovery Program project limits.
  • Assessment criteria weighting: Investigator/ Capability (Previously “DECRA                      candidate”) criteria score is increased to 50%. Relatively, Project Quality and Innovation criteria score is reduced to 25%.
  • D1 - Project description section (previously C1) has been re-ordered
  • Project costs are increased by $10,000
  • E2- Justification of non-salary funding requested from the ARC (Previously section F1) has a new page limit of 4 pages
  • E3- Details of non-ARC contributions (Previously section F2) has a new page limit of 2 pages
  • G1- This section from previous years has been removed, and the information from the former G1 table is included at F6 and F7 (ROPE Section)
  • G2- previously “Statements on Progress” section has been removed.

Key Dates

  • Career Interruption Forms Due to MRO - December 11
  • RNTA due to MRO (due to ARC) February 20 (February 27)
  • ADR Approved Strategic Statements Due to MRO February 27
  • Initial Deadline for Complete MRO Review February 13
  • ARC Deadline March 12
  • Anticipated Rejoinder Period 24 June- 7 July 2020
