Please review the due dates and any requirements at our intranet site: https://www.intranet.monash/researchadmin/find-and-apply/NHMRC/investigator-grants

Grant Guidelines and Proposal Templates will be available from Grant Connect once the scheme opens.

MRO Support for Applications
The MRO will be supporting applications to this scheme in a number of ways:

  • Eligibility & compliance webinar (Oct 4)
  • Creation of Pure Application records upon initiation of RGMS application (Oct 2-30)
  • 1-on-1 eligibility sessions (Oct 7-11)
  • Review of impact case study sections (Oct 9-23)
  • Eligibility and compliance checks (close Nov 6)

Eligibility & compliance seminar (Oct 4)
The MRO will hold an online seminar detailing NHMRC/MRFF Investigator Grant Eligibility and Compliance information on October 4, 2019 at 11am. Please click this URL to join the seminar - https://monash.zoom.us/j/337035360 or, go to https://monash.zoom.us/join and enter meeting ID: 337 035 360 or to join from a dial-in phone: Dial: +61 3 9905 9666 and when prompted enter meeting ID: 337 035 360.

Creation of Pure Application records upon initiation of RGMS application (Oct 2-30)
As a trial for this round, the MRO will create your draft Pure Application record for your Investigator Grant once you have initiated the application within RGMS. This will then be left in draft proposal status until you are ready to request a compliance check. When you are ready for this check (by Wed 6 Nov), you will request this by locating the record in Pure and clicking on send to pre-approval.

1-on-1 Eligibility sessions (Oct 7-11)
Sessions will be held between October 7 and October 11. You can choose to meet face-to-face with us in our office at Level 1, 26 Sports Walk (Clayton Campus), or we can arrange a Zoom meeting with you if you are not on-campus. Spaces are limited and sessions will be booked on a first come, first served basis. Please book your session at: https://doodle.com/poll/q2dee5igvutu5dhi - you have until COB Monday 23 October to book a session. You will be sent an email to confirm the time and place of the session.

Please note: These sessions are not to discuss competitiveness of your application, just eligibility in terms of what you can apply for.

Review of impact case study sections (Oct 9-23)
For strategic advice from the MRO Research Development Team on the Research Impact section of your application, you must provide a copy of your responses to that section using a template that will soon be available on the MRO intranet site to mro.researchdevelopment@monash.edu between Wednesday 9 October 2019 and Wednesday 23 October 2019.

Eligibility and compliance checks (close Nov 6)
Please complete a full draft of your application, including all uploads into RGMS by Wednesday 6 November 2019, and then in Pure, locate the relevant record and click on send to pre-approval to let us know you are ready for a check. Please note: all applications must be reviewed by the MRO and approvals obtained for submission.

Successful NHMRC Investigator Grants Proposal
Please note, we do not have a bank of example successful applications from the Round 1 submissions to provide as exemplars. As such please review the NHMRC Outcomes spreadsheet to locate a relevant awardee that we can contact on your behalf to ask permission to provide this.

MRFF Investigator Grants
This applies to those considering applying for an Investigator Grant funded by the MRFF. Please note that the upcoming MRFF funded Investigator Grants will follow the standard MRO process.
It is essential that you follow the advice and time lines outlined above. For those intending to apply for the MRFF Investigator grants please note you will also be considered for a standard Investigator Grant. The MRFF funding will only be open to EL1 and EL2 and only in specific clinical areas. You must also be aware of what types of applications will be considered to be funded through the MRFF. Please see that attached MRFF Investigator Grant guidelines as a starting point for the specific information.

If you have any questions about Investigator Grants or other NHMRC/MRFF matters, please don't hesitate to contact us at mhs@monash.edu
