Laboratory OHS training

Laboratory OHS training requirements are listed in the OHS training guide under Technical Staff. Please refer to your training records in myDevelopment to identify modules you need to complete.

The following OHS training modules are available on-site in October. Please register via the links provided.






  • Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods - for staff and students who handle chemicals. Tuesday 8th October, 1:00-3:00 PM - E block level 5, Surgery Seminar Room
  • Biosafety Module 1 - for staff and students who handle animals or biologicals (including tissues and blood/body fluids). Wednesday 9th October, 1:00-3:00 PM  - Level 3 board rooms, Hudson building (27-31 Wright St)
  • Risk Management / Risk Management Specialised - for laboratory personnel. Thursday 24th October, 9:00-12:15 PM - E block level 4 Seminar Room 
For other available sessions off-site, please see myDevelopment for information and registration. I will provide a cost centre for these bookings on request.

Please note:
  • Biosafety Module 1 (Microbiologicals) can be completed via an online RPL (recognition of prior learning) quiz available in myDevelopment for staff who have previously completed the face-to-face training.
  • Biosafety Module 2 (OGTR and importation compliance) is now available online in myDevelopment.
  • Gas cylinders and Cryogenics modules must be completed by personnel using gas cylinders and/or liquid nitrogen. Complete the online modules in myDevelopment prior to the practicals tests.
  • Basic Principles of Ionising Radiation Safety must be completed by personnel using radioisotopes or radiography equipment
