Congratulations to Prof Thanh Phan on receiving Agency for Clinical Innovation Research Grant

Prof Thanh Phan
Congratulations to Prof Thanh Phan on receiving a $30,000 Agency for Clinical Innovation Research Grant.  He has been granted the award for "Googling centers for endovascular clot retrieval in New South Wales geospatial modeling and optimization analysis".

Prof Phan said, "The project aims to increase our understanding of stroke incidence and distribution, current healthcare delivery arrangements, and to assess different scenarios within the objective of optimising comprehensive acute stroke management. It will model: ischaemic stroke distribution and patient flows in NSW; the impact of stroke on healthcare services demand (actual and future); alternative approaches to providing 24/7 virtual Tservices, locations and configurations  of Telestroke enabled hospitals to optimise timely care in NSW, options for arrangements in metropolitan Sydney with different combinations of ECR centres and various transport criteria aligned with new treatment guidelines

At present, a centralised model for providing clot retrieval exists in Victoria but not in New South Wales.  The grant will be used to develop a geospatial model for delivering clot retrieval service in New South Wales.

I am very honoured to receive this grant on behalf of my collaborators A/Prof Richard Beare, Kim Sutherland, Kate Jackson, Jennifer Pedler,  Mathieu Lanthier-Veilleux, Kylie Tastula, Richard Lindley and Clare Quinn".

Prof Thanh Phan is an acute stroke specialist and neurologist with clinical and research expertise in stroke thrombolysis, endovascular therapy, and the management of transient ischaemic attack (TIA) and minor stroke. He leads the Clinical Trials, Imaging and Infomatics division of Stroke and Ageing Research Group (STAR) in the Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health
