School of Clinical Sciences BMedSc (Hons) Conference Attendance Prize 2015

In 2015 the School has received a generous anonymous $2000 donation to be put toward prize(s) to assist BMedSc (Hons) student(s) to attend a conference to communicate the findings of their research project.

Applications are now being accepted from students for these funds. It can be for a conference in the future or one that has already been attended (related to the Honours research).
We've set the deadline for applications at Friday 28th August 2015.

We will then convene a small panel to consider applications and the decision will be communicated Thursday 24th September.  Committee decision will be final - no haggling will be entered into!

The only prerequisite is that you are a 2015 BMedSc(Hons) student enrolled through the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health.

Preference will be given:
- If documentation is supplied showing that the abstract has already been accepted by the conference
- oral presentations will rank higher than poster presentations
- A brief letter of support from your supervisor will be advantageous but you can still apply without such a letter.
- If you are the first author
Previous MBBS academic results will not be taken into consideration for this prize.

Please use the attached template for your application and then email application to bmedsci.scs@monash.edu

Disbursement of the funds will be as cash to be applied by the student towards conference related expenses.
If it for a future conference, we may withhold the prize until the student receives confirmation that abstract has been selected for presentation.

Depending on number of applicants, the funds may be distributed in one block of $2000 or divided (eg. 4 x $500).
The prize is not designed to cover the full cost of attending a conference, and no such guarantee is given.

Go ahead and apply. There is nothing to lose.

Commonly the presentations occur in the year AFTER the BMedSc. If you think you might present at a 2016 conference, you should still apply. We can award the prize and hold onto the funds until your abstract is accepted.
