Human Body display in TRF - we need information about your research group

An interactive digital human body display is being created in the Translational Research Facility (TRF) and we need to upload information about MHTP researchers and research projects.  The display will be fully searchable, allowing all visitors to learn about the research activities at the precinct.

In order to collect the required information, we've created a simple form for you to complete.  It will only take you 5 minutes!!  Thank you to those researchers who have already submitted their details - we are now calling for information about more research projects in order to fully showcase our activities at Monash Health Translation Precinct.

OHSE TRF Inductions

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have to cancel the Tuesday and Wednesday planned OHS seminars in the TRF.

These seminars will be rescheduled in early December.

For staff moving into the TRF we ask that you consult the wall mounted evacuation diagrams and emergency booklets placed beside your phone.

TRF relocation update

This update is provided by Precinct Facility Manager, Steve Bouralexis.

The construction of the MHTP-TRF project has reached the final stage, with building commissioning and defect rectification being the main focus for Lend Lease Building (LLB). 

Witness testing for all building services systems has been ​signed off ​by both design consultants and relevant project representative​s​.

LLB has completed the majority of works under contract and practical completion (PC) was granted on 11 September 2015, representing a major milestone for the project.

Commissioning, fit-out and relocation is now underway and the following activities are scheduled for the next six weeks:

·         Cleaning of the facility – Commencing 17^th Sept.

·         Delivery of major Laboratory equipment – Commenced and ongoing.

·         Installation of Workstation and Furniture – Commenced and ongoing.

·         Medical Equipment – To be ordered, staged delivery will commence in November 2015.

·         Information Communication Technology – Server and backbone equipment installation commenced.

·         Certification of Laborator​ies​​ and clean room - Ongoing

·         Fine tuning of the building air conditioning system - Ongoing

·         Building defect rectification – Ongoing

·         Equipment Training – Schedule to start​ in ​ea​rl​y​ October.

·         Site Tours for all stakeholders and TRF occupants - Ongoing. 

Relocation into TRF

Staged occupancy into the TRF ​will​ commence on the 4^th November (post Melbourne cup weekend). The relocation into the TRF will be occurring in the following order:

·         The Ritchie Centre to level 5 TRF

·         Platform Technology to level 4 TRF

·         Cancer Theme to level 6 TRF

·         Clinical Trials Centre to level 3 TRF

​Tours for staff not relocating into the TRF

​For all staff that want to have a sticky beak through the newly completed TRF, tours will run every Friday starting 25th September 2015 and continue until relocation of staff is complete (early December). Tours will depart from Lecture Theatre 1 at 10:05am sharp and last for 1hr. No bookings are required, just show up by 10:00am! 

Tours will be guided by either Steve Bouralexis or Eddie Law or both depending on numbers and will showcase the design elements, occupancy and purpose behind the TRF.

TRF in the final stages of construction

Excitement is building with only a few months to go until the completion of our new $84m Translational Research Facility (TRF).

Builder Lend Lease is ahead of schedule in completing the state-of-the-art building, with all internal works almost finished and the building now at lock-up stage.

"The completion of the TRF will not only provide access to an impressive translational research asset for our clinical and scientific staff, it will also signal the start of a new era in translational research for Victoria," said MHTP Business Director Michael Wright.

The Monash Health Translation Precinct (MHTP) is the name that has been given to the entity linking the TRF and the three existing research buildings and partners.

"For the first time in Australia, a research precinct will be structured around clinical research themes," added Michael.

"This means that clinician researchers and scientific staff, regardless of their employing entity - Monash Health, Hudson Institute or Monash University - will be co-located within the Precinct as mixed groups with similar clinical and scientific interests."

“There’s been a lot of collaborative work occuring behind the scenes with all of our stakeholders, partners, Lend Lease and the consultant team to deliver a high-quality building, on time and on budget,” said Monash Health Director of Major Capital Projects and Planning, Sylvia Hadjiantoniou

“Buildings can be great enablers for the delivery of healthcare and research and the new TRF is going to herald a new chapter for Monash Health and its partners,” Sylvia said.

MHTP Translational Research Facility nears completion

The MHTP Executive Group was recently taken on a tour of the impressive construction site of the new Translational Research Facility.

The group included Monash Health Chief Executive Shelly Park, Chief Operating Officer Siva Sivarajah, Monash University Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Dean Professor Christina Mitchell, Director of MIMR-PHI Institute Professor Bryan Williams, and Director Monash
Partners Academic Health Science Centre Michael Wright.

With all exterior works nearly complete, construction of the new MHTP-TRF is approaching lock-up stage.

MHRO East/West Bridge Link Works

Works to install the East/West Bridge link from the TRF into L3 of MHRP are about to kick into overdrive. Lend Lease have issued me with a program of details for the works to take place starting on the 28th January and concluding on the 23rd of March 2015.

As always we have envisaged a minimal interruption program, with works that involve drilling/coring to be done after hours/weekends and at times that do not impact on highly sensitive commercial operations.

The works will see the installation of two bridges:

1. An aerial bridge connecting the TRF on Level 4 to the MHRP building on Level 3 

2. Installation of a smaller bridge connecting the TRF and MHRP at ground level providing access to Kanooka Grove.
