Dr Hashrul Rashid receives RACP Trainee of the Year Award

Congratulations to Dr. Hashrul Rashid who was recently awarded the Trainee of the Year Prize by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) upon completion of his advanced training in cardiology. He is currently a specialist cardiologist and is completing his PhD with the Monash Cardiovascular Research Centre.

Dr. Rashid’s thesis investigates the diagnosis, impact and predictors of leaflet thrombosis diagnosed with CT following transcatheter aortic valve replacement.

His thesis is currently supported by the NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship, National Heart Foundation Australia Health Professional Grant and RACP Kincaid-Smith Scholarship. He is also part of the Monash University Clinical Academic Fellowship.

During his clinical training, Dr. Rashid was awarded the Victorian Junior Doctor of the Year (2013), Monash Health Resident of the Year (2014) and Monash Health Excellence in Medical Education Award (2016). He completed the FRACP and Membership of Royal College of Physician’s UK [MRCP (UK)] examinations concurrently in 2015. He has received numerous research awards including the Monash Health Clinical Research Award (2017), Cardiac Society of Australia/New-Zealand Registrar Research Prize (2019) and twice attained the TCT Asia Pacific Best Abstract Award (2016 & 2018).

Dr. Rashid would like to acknowledge numerous mentors and colleagues that have helped shape his career. He thanks current supervisors Prof. James Cameron, A/Prof. Arthur Nasis and A/Prof. Robert Gooley for their unwavering support and mentorship.
