Notification Internal EOI Process: Perpetual Trustees Ramaciotti Health Investment Grants 2020

A Health Investment Grant is intended to provide enabling research support for an autonomous early career investigator (no more than 10 years post-PhD as at 1 January 2020) who is taking or has recently taken a substantive position. It is expected that up to eight grants will be awarded in 2020.

Applications may be made for a contribution of up to 50% (to a maximum of $150,000) of the total cost towards the proposed project. A Health Investment Grant is subject to the host institution providing a matching grant of the amount requested and raising the balance (if any) of the full cost of the proposed project. The matching grant must be cash for cash (not in-kind) but can include the salaries of project personnel (excluding the salary of the Chief Investigator). It is the expectation that the matching funding will be provided by the successful applicant's School or Department in alignment with their research strategic plan. The Faculty will not be providing a contribution to the matching funding.

As per the guidelines for this scheme, Monash University may only submit a total of one application per department, up to a maximum of three applications across the University. As such, there will be Faculty and cross-Faculty review and ranking processes to select the top 3 applications.

Intending applicants are required to prepare an Expression of Interest (EOI) application using the template and submit to the Faculty Research Office (medicine.research@monash.edu) by no later than 5:00pm (AEDT) on Thursday, 2 April 2020.

The 3 shortlisted Monash applicants will be advised to proceed with their full application submission and entry of their application into Pure on or soon after 1 May 2020.

Final applications are due to the Ramaciotti Foundation via SmartyGrants by 5pm Friday, 29 May 2020. The following deadlines are advised to give applicants the maximum amount of time to draft a full application:
  • Deadline for submission of EOI to Faculty: 2 April 2020
  • Ranking of applications within Faculties (up to a maximum of 3 per Faculty): submission to MRO by 16 April 2020
  • Reviewing by cross-Faculty panel and notification of outcomes: by the 1 May 2020
  • MRO deadline for compliance check (via Pure): 15 May 2020
  • Deadline for submission of final applications: 5pm 29 May 2020
When you have all shortlisted within your Faculties, please email your shortlisted EOIs to the MRO for distribution prior to the panel review. A maximum of three applications can be shortlisted per Faculty.
