Doctor's Bag Companion: a guide to acute care in community settings

Emergency Physician and Adjunct Clinical Professor, Dr Simon Craig, has teamed up with GP Dr Kirrily Ellerton to publish a book about acute care in community settings.

The book called 'Doctor's Bag Companion' provides a guide to acute care including,

- Weight-based doses of paediatric medications for asthma, seizures, anaphylaxis and antibiotics
- Treatment of important adult emergencies
- A guide to management of burns and wounds
- A section on palliative care.

The book is based on the concept of the Monash Children’s Paediatric Emergency Medication Book of which Dr Craig is a contributor and editor. Dr Craig says the Doctor's Bag Companion may be useful for GP registrars, those doing home visits, as well as being handy in general consults and treatment rooms of any general practice.

More information about the book can be found at the website www.doctorsbagcompanion.com.au
