Staff, students, and alumni from Monash University are excited to be raising money in support asylum seekers through the 2019 Monash Run for Refugees on Sunday, July 28.
Over 250 runners from a dozen teams are joining the run, including participants from the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.
As asylum seekers are ineligible for government support, the full cost of each year must be paid up front, placing an annual barrier of up to $35,000 between deserving asylum seekers and their dream of pursuing higher education. With this in mind, almost $20,000 has been raised so far this year, with an overall goal of raising $100,000 – this will cover a significant portion of the cost of an asylum seeker’s study at Monash through an Asylum Seeker Scholarship.
You can help us by signing up today at www.monash.edu/run. All first time runners receive a free Team Monash running top, and everyone who raises $500 will be eligible to receive a two-tone Monash hoodie as well. 100% of all money raised goes directly to support asylum seekers at Monash, so grab your colleagues and join us as we run for refugees this July.
