PhD student Vera Golder wins five awards at annual congress

PhD student Vera Golder has taken out five of a possible seven awards at the Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology and Australian Rheumatology Association Annual Congress held in Brisbane last month.

Vera's awards included the New Investigator Award, Best Clinical Science Free Paper, Best Abstract Award, Roche traveling scholarship, and ASM travel grant.

Vera's research focuses on developing treat to target endpoints for systemic lupus erythematosus, an autoimmune multisystem disease that has devastating outcomes for afflicted patients, the majority of whom are women of childbearing age.

On receiving her awards Vera said "my success was possible only through the paramount collaborative effort of the members of the Asia Pacific Lupus Collaboration, all of whom worked tirelessly to collect the data required for this practice changing research".
