Northern Australian Youth Diabetes Collaboration

The Menzies School of Health Research are seeking talented candidates who wish to apply for a PhD. You should ideally have a background and interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child and youth health, health service delivery, models of care, provision of culturally appropriate care and qualitative research methods.

The aim is to develop, pilot and evaluate culturally appropriate diabetes management programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and youth with type 2 diabetes across Northern Australia (Northern Territory, Kimberley and Far North Queensland).

This qualitative PhD project will explore the appropriateness of enhanced models of care for Indigenous youth with type 2 diabetes across Northern Australia. The candidate will be required to live in Northern Australia for the duration of this project and undertake relevant cultural awareness and methodological training as required.
