Dr Sharman Tanny awarded 'Best Research Paper Prize' at RACS congress

Dr Sharman Tanny and
Mr Ram Nataraja at the congress
Congratulations to Dr Sharman Tanny from the Department of Paediatrics who was the recipient of the 'Best Research Paper Prize' for best presentation at the recent Royal Australian College of Surgeons 2019 Annual Scientific Congress (ASC).

Dr Tanny's presentation "The state of the paediatric acute scrotum in Australia" was judged the winner in the section program of Paediatric Surgery.

Speaking of her win Dr Tanny said, "It was a great honour to be awarded this prize for the work I have done together with Dr Naveen Wijekoon, Dr Maurizio Pacilli, and Dr Ram Nataraja. Our research investigated the delays in the presentation and management of boys with scrotal pain. We identified gaps to be addressed, to minimise delays. This will lead to improvement in patient care, and I am glad that our work has been recognised."

The ASC is the largest multi-disciplinary surgical meeting for the college, and this year took place in Bangkok, Thailand.
