A position is available for a
research assistant to work in the Hertzog laboratory of the Centre for Innate
Immunity and Infectious Diseases, MIMR-PHI (affiliated with the Department of
Molecular and Translational Sciences, Monash University) )http://mimr-phi.org/research-centres/innate-immunity-infectious-diseases/)
. The broad area of the project is to characterize the role of a novel
interferon, called IFN epsilon, in regulating the mucosal innate immune
response to infections and other diseases. In particular this project, funded
by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will address aspects of hormonal
regulation of gene expression, primary human cell culture, immune based assays
of protein expression, various assays of gene expression and some studies in
animal models. We are looking for an enthusiastic and inquisitive scientist
with the ability to work as part of a team and independently as required, with
experience in most of the aforementioned techniques.
