S Drive scheduled maintenance - Grand Final Day

eSolutions is undertaking essential upgrade work on the University's corporate data storage infrastructure.  This infrastructure provides staff and students with the S: drive and personal storage folders (Documents, Pictures, Desktop and Favorites).  To carry out the upgrade work it will be necessary to shutdown the storage system. We are planning to complete the work on Fri Sep 28th (Grand Final public holiday) with Sat Sep 29th as a contingency day.

Planned evacuation drills 16 October

Evacuation drills are planned for Tues 16th Oct, in all SCS and Hudson Institute areas throughout the day. Please plan your experiments accordingly. Please note that all staff and students are expected to participate in the drill, and follow warden instructions.

Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund (Round 3) - CALL FOR EOI APPLICATIONS

Round 3 of the Victorian Medical Research Acceleration Fund will provide two tiers of funding, $500,000 and $100,000, matched dollar for dollar, for the translation of early stage health and medical research into health and economic outcomes.

NHMRC Investigator grant support - register your EOI

The NHMRC Investigator grants will close on 6 February 2019. This year, SCS (including the Hudson) were the most successful school in the Faculty on a percentage success basis.  SCS and the Faculty will provide support for all applicants again this year, but to do this we need to know who will be applying.

2018 Monash University 3MT winner Nicole Free

Speech pathologist Nicole Free won Monash University’s 3MT grand final competition last Thursday with her presentation ‘Restoring voice with therapy: Can a larynx change its spots?’

A PhD candidate in the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health and the Monash Health Department of Surgery, Nicole’s research looks at how non-surgical interventions, like voice therapy, could potentially reverse or eliminate vocal fold lesions.

Monash fellowship enables further research to reduce the burden of preterm brain injury
