What's in a name? Confused about when to use the terms Phytochemical or Phytonutrient?


The terms 'Phytochemical' and 'Phytonutrient' seem to be loosely thrown around these days. So to set things straight, Professor Gary Williamson, Head of the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food, together with a team of international collaborators have sought to create an easy-to-use reference for the use of these terms in a bid to improve standardisation. Monash University welcomes Professor Gary Williamson as the new Head, Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food.

A highly cited author (ISI h-index of 80), Professor Williamson joins the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health (SCS) from the University of Leeds, UK, where he was Professor and Chair of Functional Food, School of Food Science and Nutrition.
