Prof Eva Segelov publishes the inaugural title in "IntechOpen Women in Science 2018 Book Collection"

Prof Eva Segelov
Congratulations to Prof Eva Segelov, Director of Oncology at Monash University and Monash Health, for publishing the inaugural title in IntechOpen's Women in Science 2018 Book Collection, Advances in the Molecular Understanding of Colorectal Cancer.

IntechOpen Women in Science 2018 Book Collection, is a program created by IntechOpen in recognition of UNESCO’s International Day of Women and Girls in Science.  Submitted in 2018 in response to a call "to support women scientists worldwide", Prof Segelov's proposal, "Advances in the Molecular Understanding of Colorectal Cancer" was  one of 6 chosen from 288 submissions.

Speaking of the process and the book, Prof Segelov said, "The process involved a competitive  online nomination for chapter topics, each of which were peer reviewed (not all were accepted). The completed book contains 7 chapters, each with a specific focus on developments which underpin the current understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of colorectal cancer and how this has been exploited to optimise modern targeted therapy".

The chapter entitled "Current Utility and Future Applications of ctDNA in Colorectal Cancer" is authored by students and Research Fellows from Prof Segelov's Translational Oncology Research group.

Prof Eva Segelov said, "It is an honour to be the first of the IntechOpen Women in Science 2018  editors to bring their book into production. Under the title Molecular Understanding of Colorectal Cancer, this book presents a series of chapters written by experts, summarising state-of-the-art data essential for clinicians and translational scientists alike. I would like to thank IntechOpen for promoting women in science. By having strategies that address the gender bias in scientific journal and book editing, they are not only promoting women but providing opportunities for all to contribute and have access to world-class analyses on an open access platform".

Advances in the Molecular Understanding of Colorectal Cancer is IntechOpen's 4,000th open access book.
