FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
Ian Potter
Foundation – Sustainable – Environment Fund
BRIEF DETAILS
The Environment funding area supports ambitious and transformative
environmental initiatives, including applied research. Those initiatives
should seek to manage better our natural resources and preserve threatened
biodiversity and ecosystems in the face of challenges such as land degradation,
limited water resources, invasive species, and climate change. The
Foundation is interested in applications that are strategically important, nationally
significant, and collaborative.
The Foundation prioritise projects that employ several of the following
approaches:
- Work
collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
- Enhance
the capacity of the environment sector.
- Take
an ecosystem or landscape-scale approach.
- Adopt
a community-based approach, where relevant.
- Develop
or incorporate a strong scientific evidence base.
- Develop
translational frameworks and/or strategies that can be adapted and
implemented widely.
- Promote
sustainable resource management.
- For
research projects, preference will be given to projects that engage early
or mid-career researchers. Such projects to be strongly supported by
their host organisation and be strategically aligned to the institution’s
mission.
IMPORTANT
· Applicants must
first speak with the Ian Potter Foundation’s Program Manager Lauren Monaghan
on 03 96111591 before submitting an Expression of Interest
(EOI) to be considered eligible to apply. After the initial conversation, the
Program Manager will invite suitable candidates to apply for the EOI.
· Prior to applying,
please ensure that you have identified other potential funders. The Foundation
is unlikely to fund 100% of a project cost.
· The Foundation only
considers multi-year grant applications in excess of $100,000 in this program
area.
· The Foundation
prioritises applications with evidence of collaboration, plans for leverage,
and transformative potential.
UNIVERSITY LIMITS
AND EOI PROCESS
A maximum of THREE
applications may be submitted by an organisation in a given grant round.
The MRO will therefore run an internal EOI process if the number exceeds the

Applicants must
complete the attached MRO EOI form and email the completed
form with CV of the PCI only (maximum two pages) to
mro-applications@monash.edu by 10
am Monday, 22 March 2021. Only those applicants who have been
advised by the Foundation that they are eligible to apply and invited to submit
an EOI should complete the MRO EOI form.
Please note that
ONLY the applications selected for submission through the internal EOI process
will need a corresponding Pure record.
