The CAPHIA Early Career and Postgraduate Subcommittee (ECAPS) brings to you a conversation between Dr Carmel Hobbs, Professor Rebecca Ivers and Dr Tseen Khoo on employability of ECAs in areas outside of academia and what skills may be seen as transferable.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused considerable disruption to universities and the broader tertiary education sector. Early Career Academics (ECAs), including postgraduate and higher degree research students within this sector, are much more likely to be employed in casual, part time and fixed-term roles and many of whom will be or are facing unemployment in these uncertain times.
