Metafit is a high-intensity interval training workout. It combines strength training and fat burning cardio in a fun and quick routine. It was introduced to Australia by leading fitness coach Daniel Wilson, and sadly in May he died two months after being diagnosed with stomach cancer aged just 37.
A Metafit session will be held on Friday, 30 August to raise funds for a scholarship in Daniel’s name in Professor Brendan Jenkins’ laboratory.
Professor Jenkins’ Cancer and Immune Signalling research group at Hudson Institute works with Dr Paul Cashin and Dr Dan Croagh from Monash Health and the Monash Biobank to more accurately detect stomach cancer and potentially improve survival rates.
The scholarship will support a PhD student to progress this research to the next stage.
