eSolutions is undertaking essential upgrade work on the University's corporate
data storage infrastructure. This infrastructure provides staff and
students with the S: drive and personal storage folders (Documents, Pictures,
Desktop and Favorites). To carry out the upgrade work it will be necessary to shutdown the storage
system. We are planning to complete the work on Fri Sep 28th (Grand Final
public holiday) with Sat Sep 29th as a contingency day.
During this time staff will not be able to access S: drive folders. Access to data stored in or on Desktop, Documents and Pictures will be available via synchronised copies stored on your computer. Any changes made during the outage will be synchronised once the storage system is back on-line.
Students will be able to log into lab computers but will not be able to access their stored data.
What will be the impact?
Staff
- Will not have access to the
S: drive files and folders.
- Will have access to locally
synchronised copies their personal Documents, Pictures, Desktop and
Favourites on their primary computer e.g. laptop or desktop.
- Any changes made will be
re-synchronised to the on-line storage when they next logon after the
change has been completed.
Students
- Will be able to log into
lab computers and MoVE virtual machines but will receive a generic
profile.
- Will not have access to the
S: drive or their their personal Documents, Pictures, Desktop and
Favourites.
- Will need to save any files
and data to a USB drive or Google Drive for upload after the change has
been completed.
