Teaching excellence has been
acknowledged at the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health (SCS), with Ms
Janeane Dart receiving a prestigious Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence at
the recent awards ceremony.
A senior lecturer in the Department of
Nutrition, Dietetics and Food, and an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian,
Ms Dart is completing her PhD in professionalism in dietetic education across Australia
and New Zealand.
“One of the highlights of my ten years
at Monash has been reviewing and redesigning the dietetic curriculum,” Ms Dart
said. “I’ve taught across the program
over the years but have more recently focussed my teaching in the first year of
the BNutSc and the Masters of Dietetics.”
Ms Dart said she is invested and
committed in developing the personal adeptness, professionalism and humanism of
our graduates to ensure they are ready for practice in a complex and uncertain
work environment.
“My
clinical teaching speciality is gastroenterology and teaching dietetic
education skills and person centred approaches to dietetic practice,” she
said.
“I
aim to build safe yet challenging learning environments for learners where they
are encouraged to expand and stretch themselves in developing a strong sense of
self and professional practice.”
Ms
Dart said she was both thrilled and humbled to receive the Award amongst such
talent in our Faculty.
“I acknowledge
that an Award such as this isn't possible without the support of an amazing
team of colleagues, the team I work with, and the inspiration I get from my
students wanting to inspire them to be the best health care professionals they
can be,” Ms Dart said.
