Synopsis: Systemic
lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an incurable systemic autoimmune disease in which
type 1 interferon has an established pathogenic role. Glucocorticoid induced
leucine zipper (GILZ) is a protein with a wide range of anti-inflammatory
effects. This project examines interactions between type 1 interferon and GILZ,
aiming to strengthen current evidence that GILZ may be an effective therapeutic
target in SLE.
Supervisors: Professor Eric Morand, Dr Sarah Jones
