NHMRC Nominations

Monash University has once again been asked by NHMRC to nominate people to participate in various parts of the review process next year. There are two call-outs as per below. 

1. For ECRs to observe and/or participate in the 2016 Project Grants Grant Review Panels.

The Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences is allowed to nominate up to three ECRs to serve as observers for the 2016 Project Grants Grant Review Panels.

The Deputy Dean (Research) therefore require Heads of School and Department to nominate ECRs who meet the parameters outlined by NHMRC and are available in the nominated timeframe.

When nominating an ECR, please consider the following parameters (also see attached):
  • Your Nominee must be a researcher who has not previously participated on a NHMRC Grant Review Panel or as an ECR Observer;
  • Nominees should be within 5 years of completing their PhD; and
  • If selected, nominees will be required for one day, either on Tuesday or Wednesday of a GRP week, between 18 July and 2 September 2016.
Could you provide nominations by 10 February 2016 to allow timely nominations to NHMRC by their specified date.

2. For Peer Review Panel (PRP) members, or External Peer Reviewers for the 2016 Development Grants.

NHMRC would also like individuals from Monash with expertise in the commercialisation of health and medical research to self-nominate for participate in the 2016 Development Grants peer review process. Nominees are expected to have at least five years of direct experience in product development within a biotechnology, pharmacology or technology based industry, and/or must be skilled at determining if proposed research can be translated to a successful commercial outcome.

To nominate, individuals are asked to send an email to  development.grants@nhmrc.gov.au with the following information by Wednesday 20 January 2016:
· Full name
· Research Grants Management System (RGMS) user name (if applicable)
· Company/institution
· 2016 Peer review availability (Panel Member, Expert Peer Reviewer)
· Email Address
· Preferred phone number, and
· Expertise keywords (up to 5).

In recognition of contributions made to NHMRC peer review, a list of researchers and their institution that participated in the peer review process will be published on the NHMRC website. Details on the role of a peer reviewer from NHMRC are also attached to this email.
