The scheme aims to further the University's commitment to increasing the number of women in senior roles by providing support to female staff in developing their careers, including their personal management and leadership capabilities. It matches eligible female mentees with more senior staff members who will offer on-the-job support, career advice and guidance, to facilitate professional growth.
Mentee eligibility
To participate as a mentee, staff must be:
- Female professional staff HEW Level 8 and above, or
female professional staff at HEW 7 who are currently in a supervisory/team
leader/managerial role
- Female academic staff Level B and C
- Employed in a continuing or fixed-term basis at Monash
University (either full-time or part-time) for 2 years
- Based at an Australian campus
- Supported by their Manager or Director to participate
- Available and prepared to actively participate in the
mentee orientation and all program sessions (refer to program session
dates).
To participate as a mentor, staff must:
- Be male or female academic staff member at Level C or
above, or professional staff at HEW Level 9 or above
- Have a proven track record in supervising staff,
managing teams and/or projects
- Have a commitment to increasing the number of senior
women at Monash
- Be committed to upholding the confidentiality of the
mentee
- Be prepared to enter into a partnership agreement and
to honor the work plan established with the mentee
- Be available and prepared to actively participate in
the mentor orientation session.
Preparation and training sessions for all participants will commence in June, with matched pairs then meeting 4-5 times until early December 2015.
